STEAM Methodology for 21st Century Educators: Strategic Integration, Fostering Student Assimilation and Scaffolding Innovation

The book 'STEAM Methodology for 21st Century Educators' provides a holistic journey for teachers, tutors and even parents to unpack the limitless benefits of incorporating this dynamic instructional approach to any learning environment. As the author shared her epistemology on STEAM methodology at various educational and research events , she was often asked to explain ‘HOW’ the STEAM methodology should be implemented. Chapter two also includes descriptions of successful STEAM initiatives from various parts of the globe. A collaborative action research with detailed methods of professional development and intervention implementation is also unpacked and discussed. Results and research impact on teachers, students and the community are also unfolded through quantitative and qualitative display. This evidenced-based illustration of the advantages of using the STEAM methodology should provoke a profound interest in using the approach. In Chapter Three, the author presents 'The STEAM Flexi-Formula' that was developed after analyzing results from several successful STEAM initiatives documenting the steps that were taken to facilitate students attaining advanced academic achievements with a STEAM based curriculum. The development of the STEAM Flexi-Formula was influenced by theoretical frameworks such as Social Constructivism (Vygotsky,1978), Multiple Intelligences (Gardener, 1983) and Cognitive Flexibility (Spiro & Jehng, 1990).
