About Northern White Cedar

All Fireside Lodge Cedar Furniture is crafted from northern white cedar, prized for its light weight, natural warmth, and excellent decay resistance. Natural variation in grain, knots, tone, and texture is expected and part of the appeal.

About Checking (Natural Wood Cracks)

Checking is natural in solid wood and log furniture and should be expected. As wood seasons and dries over time, it shrinks and swells at different rates, which can create surface cracks called “checks.” These checks are normal and do not affect the structural integrity of the furniture.

In log furniture, checks typically do not extend beyond the center of the log and may occasionally develop a secondary check. This is part of the authentic character of real wood furniture.
